In March 2018, Cougars Athletics and Mount Royal University Recreation officially merged to become Cougars Athletics and Recreation. This presentation will aim to highlight several synergies that were developed as a result of a new organizational structure. Presentation attendees will be able to use this learning on their respective campuses to ensure all key stakeholders within and outside your organizational structure work together in order to best serve your campus community. These initiatives could include: staff cross-training, work culture, collaborative programming, strategic staff development, website optimization, practicum/placement opportunities and much more.

Learning Outcomes
  • Recognize the benefits of merging Athletics and Recreation departments
  • Identify strategies to encourage collaboration with members of your Athletics department
  • Become aware of success and pain points of living through a merge while understanding the impact of collaboration
